Iron-On Patch (Non- Velcro Badge) Production
The reverse side of transfer printed badges; can be applied with an iron or sewn directly. They are the natural choice for uniforms, jerseys, and workwear that do not require removal, and the unit cost is significantly lower. Starts from 10 pieces, produced in 3 business days.
1. When is an iron-on patch the right choice
- If the badge will remain in place. For garments like school uniforms, work shirts, and other clothing where the badge will never be removed.
- If cost is important. It is significantly cheaper than the Velcro option for the same size and quantity.
- If a flat appearance is desired. Since there is no thickness from Velcro, the badge sits closer to the fabric.
- If frequently washed clothing. There is no problem with band wear.
If the badge needs to be removed and reapplied, check the Velcro option.
2. Should I use an iron or sew it on?
The same badge can be applied in two ways, and both are correct.
| Iron | It is quick, doesn’t require a tailor, and can be done at home. Works on cotton and cotton blend fabrics. |
|---|---|
| Sewing | This is the most permanent method. Preferred for frequently washed garments, leather, and coated surfaces. |
| Both | The strongest solution for bulk and heavy-duty use: first, it is fixed with an iron, then a fine stitch is sewn along the edge. |
You can check our iron-on patch guide for a step-by-step explanation of how to apply it. Let’s add the most critical detail here as well: the steam must be closed. This is the number one reason why the application does not hold.
3. What fabric works
| Suitable | Cotton, cotton-polyester blend, denim, thick knit, canvas bag fabric |

6. Frequently asked questions
Will an iron-on badge come off in the wash?
If applied correctly, it will not. The most common mistake is leaving the steam open on the iron. For extra assurance on frequently washed garments, a stitch can be sewn along the edge.
I applied it in the wrong place, can I remove it?
Removing it may leave a mark on the fabric and weaken the adhesive of the badge. Therefore, we recommend adjusting the position carefully before applying.
Can I apply it to my leather jacket?
No, with an iron; leather can suffer permanent damage from heat. The correct method on leather is sewing, and this should be done by a skilled leatherworker.
I don’t have an iron, what can I do?
You can have it sewn by a tailor. In wholesale orders, sewing is already the most common method.
